Our Mission.

We connect people across the world through mutual understanding and collaborative work by sharing stories and art. We believe people across the world are the same, and that young people make positive change. The future rests in the hands of those who understand these international connections, and prioritize common peace and happiness.

We are committed to making all our sections representative of our international body, and are working out the logistics of that with our members.

The Project.

Current news with critical and creative stories from writers around the world.

Our Team.

Naomy Castillo Cuellar

Regional Director

Naomy graduated from the University of Havana with a degree in sociology. For her art is life; which is to say that everything has meaning. She appreciates it from a piece displayed in a museum, to a presentation of a scene in theatre, to photography. Everything that can be related to art she is passionate about, but she identifies most with dance.

Dance is a unique and versatile universal language, and in her life it has great importance. She has danced as a hobby since she can remember, and at seven years old started to take dance classes. She hasn’t practiced it professionally, but it is something that gives her life. Four years ago she began to be part of the institutional group of contemporary dance “Entalpía” at the University of Havana and she loves all that it does.

In her major of sociology she has infused lines of study of which she is particularly interested in. Including fashion, and the different successes, processes and distinct aspects of a society. Focusing on the youth in society and the impact of the different processes and fashions that surround it day to day.

Jemima Mascary

Treasurer

Jemima is a recent graduate in math from Hamilton College. As a math major and a biology and French double minor, she felt removed from learning about social injustices. Wanting to take a break from the isolated world of math, she decided to spend a semester in Amsterdam at a program centered around the international perspective of sexuality and gender. Traveling to the Netherlands and Morocco increased her motivation to be more present in social justice issues around the world as well as the increased social awareness that comes with traveling. Being a treasurer with The Open perfectly combines her math skills with the efforts of a global collaborative platform.
